I know that it's been AGES since I have posted on here, but honesty nothing really exciting has been going on over here. At least nothing out of the daily routine. I guess that's the thing though isn't it? No matter where you live, once you're working there you get settled and a daily routine going and it's just like you're at home in your home country.
So let me think....what to say. Well MERS is pretty much finished here. I never hear about it anymore and the face masks aren't out in abundance as much anymore, so that's good.
The school is still going through some changes with more different things being added to the kindergarten class. Now we're starting show and tell. I am sure in October we're going to begin practicing for our Christmas pageant. I guess the kids learn 3 songs with dance routines (that the teachers make), write a letter to Santa and read it and something else that I can't remember. Apparently in November there's supposed to be a kindergarten memorization contest. The kids are supposed to memorize and recite a poem. I'm not sure to what purpose. And my class just started a new level of storybooks that are shorter books but have a more involved workbook. Needless to say, it's going to get busy around here soon.
I will be getting a new afternoon class in October on Mondays and Wednesdays, so instead of starting at 9:10 am and working until 6:10 pm, I will work 10:30 am-7 pm. We'll see how that goes.
Fall is in the air, the mornings and evenings are really cooling off, while the afternoons are hot (but not super hot) and sunny.
I went to the Wine Festival on Saturday here in Daejeon with Mashadi and two of her co-workers, Cam and Ashleigh. It was fun but the wine wasn't that fantastic. Basically, the convention center is separated into two areas. In the middle was a large tasting area with some tables set up and tons of wine. You have to line up and then when you're let in, you're allowed to sample as many wines as you like. They time how long you're in for and then you get sent out and a new group of people is let in. The wine in this section was all really dry and not really that great tasting.
Then outside of the testing area are a bunch of different booths with all different types of wines from all over the world. We were able to find some sweeter, more delicious wines at these booths but instead of being able to pour for ourselves, the booth workers poured for us and usually we only got a really small amount.
After the Wine Festival ended at 6pm, we went back to my place to nap and rest before going to Dunsan-dong for dinner and then pub/bar hopping. We got in some dancing and had a lot of fun. It was a great, chill, fun night.
Other than that nothing else has really happened. I finished my history course, thankfully. I did an overnight trip to Seoul to visit Paul and Avana and will be doing a weekend trip to Incheon this weekend to see Mashadi. She goes back home to Johannesburg, South Africa on Christmas Day. Other than that, I've just been plugging along, working and chilling. I have been watching a lot of movies in the evenings and doing a little bit of reading. I still meet Scarlet on Wednesdays for dinner and my Korean lessons. We're supposed to be going to a museum with the kindergarten kids on the 17th and then the following week is another cooking class. Next month's field trip will be to a snack factory.
Anyhow, that's all that I've got for now. :)
